Posting to third eye bloglet - My Story Page 5 - W.H.Bates : 21st August, 2006.
The datewise archives of third eye bloglet - My Story : My Date with My Body - about eyes, mind, sex, science, and society turned into web pages. My Story Page 5 makes a real interesting reading:
I was swimming in an endless ocean.
I didn't know which land it would be taking me to, but I was catching on each and every straw that I was able to put my hands on.
Exhaling to the fullest did something somewhere to the body or to the eyes, but that (exhaling) in itself couldn't be the answer.
What was it doing then, and to which part of the body?
In the meantime I had started studying a bit of ophthalmology too, and luckily the first book I put my hands on, was The Cure of Imperfect Sight by Treatment Without Glasses (aka: Perfect Sight Without Glasses) by Dr. W.H.Bates of The United States of America, written almost 80 years back!
Today I know (not only feel - I know it!) how lucky I was to start my ophthalmology with Bates' theory and not with that of the mainstream ophthalmology.
Bates is logical. Mainstream ophthalmology is authoritative - just deaf to logic!
As per Bates, even if there is a single exception to a rule, the rule gets challenged and must be re-examined.
As per mainstream ophthalmology, the rule once established is the ultimate truth, and any exception whatsoever is nothing more than a disobedient errant.
What an arrogance!
Once the Church also used to be the same way authoritative.
But, ophthalmic details later!
First let me be with my story - the personal perception of the visual acuity instantaneously by putting some body-switch on.
Some!
Huh!
Exhaling, somehow, gave me the feeling of falling down in the mid-air speeding up toward the ground down.
Even in a fast moving elevator, I sensed a similar sensation in my body while going down in it; and an opposite one, while going up in the same.
I learnt that under conditions of free-fall, one didn't need breathing. One may, but one doesn't need it. If s/he doesn't, no problem! It's a permanent state of exhalation till one keeps falling free in the mid-air.
How could fall be of any help to me?
I decided to do an experiment.
I got a Snellen chart for me, got it mounted on a board, and hung it on the wall of my bedroom just in front of my bed at a distance of 10 feet from my eyes when I sat relaxed on it.
What would I do, now, with it?!
