Cataract Surgery

Old Lens Replaced with New

eyes

Don't wait for your cataract to ripe.

Run for the cataract surgery as soon as cataracts are diagnosed.

Why?

Because in the recentmost technique named phacoemulsification, best results are obtained in persons with early cataracts.

When ripe, cataract turns too hard for the phacoemulsifier to break the lens apart.

eyes

An ultrasound or laser probe breaks the lens apart taking care that its capsule is not harmed.

The broken fragments are then aspirated out of the eye.

Now, a foldable intra-ocular lens (IOL) is introduced inside through a 3mm incision.

The new lens unfolds itself once it takes position inside the capsule.

Even sutures are not needed. The incision is self-sealing!

The whole procedure is done under topical anesthesia that simply needs anesthetic eye drops only.

But sorry, this new lens doesn't let you normally focus at the near point! You are still supposed to wear eyeglasses for reading even after the cataract surgery is done!

Hard luck!

But is it the new lens that is stopping you from focusing near? Or it is your eye ball that never acted dynamically even with your old lens throughout your life and kept taxing the lens for doing the same till before the cataract surgery was done!

Sutural Cataract

Sutural Cataract

Who knows this only could have kept your lens under excessive strain causing its proteins to coagulate?

But once done, is done. Can something new be done now?

Can near-eyeglasses be removed now?

Vision therapy may come to your rescue at this juncture and train your eye ball to act dynamically in order to focus at the near point without any help from the lens.

Let the lens do its job of bending the light rays what, in fact, it has been designed for; and let the eye ball do its, the one it has been designed for, i.e., focusing at near and far points!
