Hemangioma Eye

Capillary & Cavernous Hemangiomas

eyes

Hemangioma eye is a dense collections of dilated small blood vessels in the eye.

It can also affect the skin or any other internal organ.

Hemangiomas appear as lesions that may be on the surface layer of the organ as capillary hemangioma or in a deeper layer as cavernous hemangioma.

Hemangiomas are generally present at birth only, but develop later. They have a rapid growth phase when they increase rapidly, a rest phase when they grow very little, and an involutional phase when they start disappearing, leaving its mark behind.

They are very disturbing when they are on the face or in the eyes.

Capillary hemangioma eye is generally left untreated and disappears on its own.

Cavernous hemangioma eye is treated with steroids injections or laser that rapidly reduce the size of the lesion, and allow normal vision to develop.
