I decided to learn something about ophthalmology when, one day, I accidentally transcended to an incomprehensible state of existence.
No, in fact my body accidentally fell into an incomprehensible (then!) state of holding itself....
....in a way that immediately let me, rather made me, see every damn thing in the field of my vision crystal clear!
I had been a patient of myopia all through my life with a refractive index of -2.25D in both the eyes!
I just couldn't figure out what exactly my body had done in order to be able to come out of the clutches of my myopia in one single moment. I kept wondering.
And then I fell back. My myopic blur was right there, back into the field of my vision again!
O my God, what was it?
I tried to remember. Nothing came to my mind. I was seeing blurred all around.

I stopped trying to remember. Instead, I surrendered my mind to my body.
And lo, it was there! Everything crystal clear again!

My body had remembered.
My mind was not thinking. It was just seeing.
As I tried to figure out what it was that I was doing, the myopic blur invaded my eyes again!
I would go mad, O My....
But by now I had learnt how to surrender my mind to my body and see clear immediately. Anytime. Every time!
But my body was not telling the secret to my mind. The moment I tried to apprehend, comprehend or figure it out, it gave way and brought my myopic blur back again.
Incredulous! The connection between the body and the mind was awfully severed somewhere.
Where?
A billion dollar question! I could do the thing to myself but not tell others how to do it!
Gosh!
I must know. Somehow.
I decided to study ophthalmology. May be that was able to tell me.....

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine specializing in the anatomy, physiology, disorders and dysfunctions of the eye.
An ophthalmologist is a medical doctor who has studied ophthalmology as a specialty and is able to take care of the eye and the vision problems and diseases, starting from prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses to administering medicine and to performing serious and intricate eye surgery.
Where did my experience fall among these? I was able to cure my vision instantly. Ophthalmology didn't talk of it at all, but only of managing it through lenses or surgery in the name of eye care.

During residency that is of three years duration after five years of the medical degree plus internship, Eye M.D.s or ophthalmologists receive special training in all aspects of eye care, including prevention, diagnosis and medical and surgical treatment of eye conditions and diseases.
A subspecialty ophthalmologist spends another one to two years in a specific field of eye care, e.g. glaucoma or pediatric ophthalmology.

Here is a list of all such subspecialties:
Cornea and External Disease: taking care of the diseases of cornea, sclera, conjunctiva and eyelids including corneal transplant surgery and corneal surgery to correct refractive errors.
Ophthalmology would go for corneal surgery for what I had, though accidentally, got in one single second!
No, I must search for a language to communicate my incomprehensible achievement in objective words so as to enable every single person to repeat the same immediately (but not accidentally!) to one's benefit.
I must study ophthalmology more or may be something else!

That was what I kept thinking those days!
It's now, after two years of day and night search of mine into discovering an objective - though still very subtle - language that has enabled me to teach the same to others too, in my vision therapy sessions.

Neuro-ophthalmology: involves the relationship between neurologic and ophthalmic diseases, affecting the optic nerve and other visual pathways.
Ophthalmic Pathology: combines ophthalmology with pathology in order to deal with adnexa.
Pediatric Ophthalmology: takes care of strabismus, amblyopia, genetic and developmental abnormalities in the minors.

Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery: combines ophthalmic surgery with plastic surgery to take up orbital surgery, lid and upper facial reconstructive procedures including cosmetic lid surgery.
Glaucoma: involves the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma and other disorders that may cause optic nerve damage by increasing intraocular pressure.
Vitreoretinal Diseases: involves medical and surgical treatment of retinal and vitreoretinal diseases, e.g. retinal detachment and macular degeneration.
Fine, that's what ophthalmology is all about. Now I must know how the eye works, too.
