Pink Eye

Conjunctivitis

eyes

You must have had a pink eye in your life at least once.

I had it once too.

Nothing very serious!

But very, very irritating!

Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is an infection and the consequent inflammation of conjunctiva, which is a clear membrane lining up the white part of the eye and the inside of the eyelid.

Owing to the inflammation, the eye turns pinkish or reddish. It itches in the beginning but later turns paining. Excess of itching in any part of the body will do that only.

Viral Conjunctivitis

Conjunctivitis is of four types:

  • Allergic Conjunctivitis - Both eyes are affected. They itch and turn pink. At times, nose also gets involved. A lot of tears flow out of the eyes turning them sticky too.

  • Bacterial Conjunctivitis - Here also both the eyes are affected. Discharge out of eyes is very heavy.

  • Viral Conjunctivitis - Only one eye is affected and waters a lot. Discharge is not heavy.

  • Giant Papillary Conjunctivitis - Again generally both eyes are affected. A heavy discharge along with itching, tearing and red bumps inside the eyelids is the symptom.

Which type is yours? A real difficult thing to differentiate!

And what about the causative factor of an eye going pink?

Their names are so suggestive, even a child can tell! Yes, the last one is out of the intolerance toward a foreign body in the eyes like a pair of contact lenses in the eyes.

For allergic conjunctivitis, antihistamine allergy pills or eye-drops are prescribed.

For bacterial conjunctivitis, antibiotic eye-drops do the needful.

For viral infection, nothing is prescribed since it heals on its own.

For giant papillary conjunctivitis, any eye-drops reducing inflammation and itching are prescribed.

Again to say, a pink eye is nothing serious. It's just a minor infection that basically, only needs time to heal.

But vision therapy comes handy here too! If eyes are centrally fixated, or in other words if the third eye chakra is open; the eyes and the body refuse to catch infections since their immune system has gone simply impeccable!
